Get those wellies on! Whether you want a short to moderate walk in the countryside, a serious hike, or to find somewhere new to explore, you'll find something here to spark your interest in the outdoors.

In the beautiful autumn sunshine, nothing beats a splash around in the puddles with the kids. In the summer choose from a range of circular walks and enjoy a lazy picnic on the way. And in the winter wrap up well and take advantage of cosy pubs en-route. Warm yourself up beside a roaring log fire.

Not sure where to start? Nottinghamshire County Council's guided or self-guided walks will be just the thing for you. There's a number of publications and walking packs - many are free of charge - which give details of some great routes around Nottinghamshire.

Nottinghamshire Ramblers Association offers a year round programme of walks, access to hills, long distance paths and national parks. It's run by 16 groups accross the county.

Nottinghamshire rural routes
Produced in conjunction with Country Walking magazine, keen walkers can now take advantage of a range of self guided rural routes in the glorious countryside. They include Sherwood Forest, the Vale of Belvoir, and Teversal and Huthwaite - the highest point in Nottinghamshire - which commands spectacular views.
