Things to do > Literature & legend > DH Lawrence
DH Lawrence revolutionised the world of literature. But this controversial novelist came from humble beginnings – he was born in a small terraced house in Eastwood, Nottinghamshire in 1885. Now a museum, the house looks just as it did when Lawrence was a child. The inspirational author of Lady Chatterley’s Lover attended Nottingham High School and then Nottingham University. Today, a life-sized bronze statue of Lawrence lies within the University Park campus. Following his death in France in 1930, DH Lawrence’s headstone was transported back to England and will soon be on public display at the D.H. Lawrence Birthplace Museum. Must-see attractions D.H. Lawrence Heritage is an award winning visitor attraction celebrating one of the greatest writers of the 20th Century. With two attractions to visit, Durban House Heritage Centre and the D. H.
