Teeing Off: Nottinghamshire GolfGolf was first played in Nottinghamshire on common land at Bulwell more than a century ago (Bulwell Forest Golf Club now stands upon this site). Nottinghamshire is a true golfer's paradise: with 31 golf clubs affiliated to the Nottinghamshire Union of Golf Clubs. There are 15 private clubs, 15 commercial - open to the public on a 'pay and play' basis. There's also a municipal course and a cyber golf course. Among Nottinghamshire's best is Rufford Park Golf and Country Club. An exciting challenge for all players, this 6,343 yard, par 70 course is set in over 200 acres of beautiful parkland. You'll be spoilt by the spectacular views of Rufford Lakes and Abbey. Cotgrave Place Golf Club boasts magnificent views of surrounding countryside, only three miles from the centre of Nottingham. Here you'll play on an 18 hole championships standard course. Ruddington Grange is growing a reputation as one of Nottinghamshire's most enjoyable and demanding golf courses. Designed by John Small and Eddie McAusland, the course opened in 1988 and has steadily improved since. Nearby in Lincolnshire, De Vere Belton Woods is a modern resort set in 475 acres of tranquil countryside. Belton Woods offers golfers a choice of three courses, from championship, tricky to picturesque. At Cyber Golf you can play golf on over 50 of the World's greatest golf courses without setting a foot outside Nottingham...and using the best clubs available. < back to Sports
